Gift Vouchers / Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a trial lesson and a pleasure flight?
A trial lesson (or introductory lesson) covers the basics of the aircraft controls and flight. The recipient of the voucher can experience the controls for themself as they will be flying with a qualified Flying Instructor. The flight departs from and returns to the same airfield.
A pleasure flight is were the passengers watch the world go by below. They do not experience handling the controls.

Does a trial lesson count towards a Pilot's Licence?
The air exercises covered in a trial lesson can count towards the first stages of a Private Pilot Licence. A pleasure flight does not count towards a Pilot's Licence.

What should I wear?
Most basic training helicopters such as the Robinson R22 are quite small inside, so wear light, comfortable clothes and avoid padded jackets. Shoes should ideally be flat-soled for trial lessons so you can easily operate the foot (yaw) pedals.

What else do I need to bring?
Bring your gift voucher (unfortunately we cannot fly you without it), some photo identification and a camera. Your family and friends are welcome along to watch as we have viewing areas at both bases.

Do I receive a certificate of my flight?
Yes, every passenger who completes a trial lesson receives a certificate stating that they have completed the lesson. Certificates for pleasure flights are available on request.
